What we make

Smash or Pass is a simple choice game: a character appears, you decide whether they get a Smash or a Pass, and the next card arrives immediately. The format works because the rules disappear after the first pick—no trivia quiz, no scoring guide, and no complicated setup.

This site, playsmashorpass.com, keeps that format fast on phones and desktops. You get progress through the lineup, optional skips, community Smash percentages, and a final Smash Rate made for sharing. The homepage offers a random mixed lineup; themed pages dive into specific universes.

Whether you already know the meme or you just want a quick, opinion-based game, you can finish a round in a few minutes and play again with a new order whenever you like.

How a round works

  1. Look at the character. One card appears with a name and image. Take a second—or trust your immediate reaction.
  2. Pick Smash or Pass. Smash means they make your list. Pass moves you on. Some rounds also offer Skip when you are not sure; skips do not count toward your Smash Rate.
  3. See how the community voted. When enough people have played, many cards show the overall Smash percentage so far. Your own choice still only counts in your round.
  4. Reveal results. Finish the lineup to see your Smash and Pass counts, Smash Rate, standout picks, and—where available—a results image you can save or share.

There are no wrong answers. The game is entertainment, not a ranking of real people and not a dating service. Play for fun and keep the tone kind when you share results.

Games on the site

Free games cover popular fictional lineups. We add more over time. The current set includes:

What we care about

A few simple goals shape every free game on the site:

  • Speed first. Choices should feel instant on phone and desktop. No install, no long tutorial.
  • Clear results. When a round ends, you should immediately understand your Smash Rate and what you picked.
  • Fiction only. Lineups feature fictional characters and game personas. This is not a place to rate real private individuals.
  • Careful character lists. Where a franchise includes younger characters, we aim to keep the playable list focused on adult characters. If something looks wrong, tell us.
  • Honest free access. The core games are free. We do not hide play behind an account wall.

Content and rights

Character names, likenesses, artwork, trademarks, and franchise materials belong to their respective owners. Play Smash or Pass is an independent fan-made entertainment site and is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or sponsored by those rights holders unless we explicitly say otherwise.

Character images may come from public sources or official materials, and we may re-host optimized versions so pages load quickly. Community Smash and Pass totals are combined stats from players on this site.

If you are a rights holder and need a takedown, correction, or credit change, email support@playsmashorpass.com with the page link, the image or name in question, and proof of authority. We review legitimate notices promptly.

Privacy in short

You can play without creating an account. We keep only what we need to run the site—like combined Smash/Pass totals, basic visit logs for reliability and security, and short-term protections against spam. We do not sell a personal profile of your individual picks.

Full details are in our Privacy Policy. Rules for using the site are in the Terms of Use.

What’s next

Random and themed free games are live today. We are also working on:

  • A custom game creator you can share with friends
  • Richer community rankings, including most smashed and most passed characters
  • More franchise lineups, with careful checks on who appears in each list
  • Faster images and clearer, more accessible controls on every round
